Jamberry Nail Wrap Review + Giveaway - #HolidayGiftGuide2014

Disclosure: I received a sample product to facilitate this review. No other compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.

I've always been hard on my fingernails. The only time in my life I've had a manicure that lasted more than two days was when I was on my honeymoon. My hands are prone to feeling dry, and I think that makes my nails a little on the brittle side - if I hit one against something wrong, it's probably torn or at least bruised. I worked at the library before I had kids, and I eventually gave up even trying to have my nails painted while I was there - the repetitive moving and stacking of books guaranteed a chipped nail every time.

As a mom, I don't have a whole lot of time to worry about my nails, even if I wanted to take the chance that building forts, rescuing imaginary sea creatures, and coloring with markers would not wreak havoc on them.

I've been hearing friends talk about Jamberry Nail Wraps for months on end, and was finally convinced to give them a try when my good friend Emily told me she had joined Jamberry as a consultant! And to make the deal even sweeter, she offered to give away a full sheet of nail wraps and an application kit to one of YOU! Keep reading for details on how to win.

I will admit that when I first started seeing Jamberry nails pop up in my Facebook and Instagram feeds, I thought to myself...well, those are kind of silly. At $15 a sheet, I wasn't sure they were worth all the hype. Emily told me to browse the selection and I was immediately sold on the Orchid Skinny design (what I'm wearing in these photos). It's purple and it's peppy, yet subtle...I kind of think you can't beat that. And one $15 sheet will get you at least two full manicures - that's way cheaper than a salon manicure, for sure.

I wasn't sure how the application process would go, especially because I decided to do my nails while my kids were awake. The complete full manicure process ended up taking me about an hour to complete - that's with watching the Application Video and stopping between each nail to talk to the kids.

The process is pretty basic. You start with a nail prep wipe to clean the nails before application, then push back your cuticles so the adhesive can be applied. Cut a nail sticker in half, apply some heat to make it pliable (that's where my hairdryer came in, but Jamberry also sells a nifty little heater that does the trick), apply it to the nail and make sure there are no bubbles or creases. Totally simple, right?

I definitely think that my application process will improve with practice. My left hand looks a lot better than my right because I spent more time on it. Regardless, it's been one whole day and nothing has chipped yet! I don't think that this manicure will last to its full potential due to my poor application, but when done correctly, I can see how the seal will hold for a long time! You can even watch a Tips & Tricks video to help troubleshoot.

I know that I don't have time to do my nails frequently (or ever), and trips to a salon are definitely not in my budget (I mean, I only get my hair cut maybe three times a year). So Jamberry nails are a perfect solution for the mama who wants to maintain her sense of style while carefully budgeting her time and money!

I think they turned out super cute, bubbles and all!

Take a peek at Emily's Jamberry shop and leave me a comment letting me know your favorite style! Hint: that's the first entry for the giveaway below, so you'll be a step ahead!
