Baby Bump: Week 32

How far along? 32 weeks!

Weight gain/loss: Honestly, I haven't weighed myself since my last appointment on September 25.  So about the same or slightly more?  :)

Feeling: Today?  Okay.  But it's been a long week.  Lots of aching joint, it's getting hard to walk.

Maternity clothes? Yes, and it's finally chilly outside so I have started wearing a few of my long-sleeve shirts.  

Sleep: Not enough.  Lincoln's sleep has been pretty atrocious this past week unfortunately. 

Food cravings: Not a lot of cravings, really.  I have been really hungry this week, Adelaide must be growing!  I learned that bagels have like 8g of protein so I guess you could say I've been obsessively consuming those?  Still not a craving, but I did make a special trip to the store this morning to get more.

Gender: Girl!  Today I am hoping to sort through and organize a giant tote filed with shoes, headbands, bows, and tights.  Yay!
 

Movement?  She's pretty busy in there, but starting to run out of room so the movements aren't huge anymore.

What I miss?  Sleep.  Feeling normal.  Caesar salad, apple cider.  Being able to get dressed without holding onto something for support.

Best moment this week:  Had a huge burst of nesting last night and cleaned out the garage after drama class - everything is nice and organized in there now.  Then I started dragging furniture around the basement and made a huge mess.  Lost the energy to finish the project before bed, but hopefully will get it done this weekend.

What I'm looking forward to:  Hopefully getting a haircut soon.  My hair is kind of out of control.  My bangs are "supposed" to be at eyebrow level.  You can see in the photo that they are currently able to touch my nose.  Yikes.

Next Appointment: October 10.

He's probably going to put it in his mouth.

Once he has done this, he might not be very happy.

But just in case his first impression was wrong, he will probably try again.

The second time won't go any better.

He will make funny gagging sounds.

You might have a hard time not laughing at him.

In fact, you might laugh a lot.

Then you will feel sympathetic and be forced to share your sweet tea.

And chances are, once he has tried your sweet tea....

He will drink it all. 

Then you will have no sweet tea.

And he will have hands that smell strongly of pickle.

How to Survive Pregnancy with a Toddler: Playdates!

I've mentioned this before, but it's still true - Lincoln and I are a little bit bored out of our minds in this house - and the further I get into my pregnancy, the worse it gets.  The weather is gorgeous, but he can't be trusted at the park since I can't keep up with him!  Every time it's nice outside, I debate about using our KC Zoo membership card, but that seems like altogether too much effort as well.  So, on days when I am especially needing a break, I call in reinforcements - Lincoln's best friend Grace and her mom Stephanie.

This particular day, Grace came over to play while her mama got a haircut!  The two of them spent most of the morning running around on our deck (aka playground), chasing each other, dragging each other by the hand, and "talking."  SO cute!

Lincoln moved quickly so that I wouldn't have evidence to share, but his latest trick is pushing the yellow Little Tikes chairs to the edge of the deck and climbing up to look over.  I'm a little bit terrified that he will scale the railing and jump off.  Yes, he is that crazy.

Grace posed for lots of cute photos for me while we played.  Lincoln, not so much.  The best shot I got was one where his mouth is stuffed full of cheese.  Oh well.  "Cheese" is one of his newest words and it is the.cutest.thing.ever.  I should teach him to say it for photos as right now, it's only associated with string cheese. 

We're so thankful for wonderful friends to make our long, tired days easier!

Willkommen Fall: Oktoberfest Fun 2012

With the arrival of October, I think it may be (finally) safe to say that fall is here!  It has been a pretty hot and miserable summer in Kansas City.  Between worrying about heatstroke and sunburn in the toddler and being pregnant, we have hardly been able to leave the house.  And it has been less than fun.

This weekend, we had no real plans - other than cleaning the disaster house, no fun - so we spent Saturday morning walking around the local Oktoberfest celebration!  It was a gorgeous day and Lincoln was entertained by all of the various booths, performers, and crowds.

But definitely the section that intrigued him the most was the carnival! I was a little bit obsessed with the bright colored Ferris Wheel.  Neither of us had any desire whatsoever to ride it, but I spent a fair amount of time trying to shoot it in manual on my Nikon D3000.  I'm a little bit out of practice as I find myself having to use auto most of the time - wild toddler and good exposure settings are hard for me to match in my state of extreme amateur photographer.  I realized after taking these shots that I really need an external flash attachment - the above photo would definitely have turned out better if I had more control over the light balance.

Lincoln watched all of the rides in amazement and we discussed whether or not it was worth the overpriced carnival tickets to let him experience one.  Ultimately we decided it would be fun this year - when we can stop at just one ride - unlike next fall when I'm sure he will have very definite opinions on what he wants to do.  The decision was made and we picked out the elephant ride (which is awfully similar to a certain elephant ride we saw on our trip to Disney in 2010).

Then came a fun dilemma - neither of us had brought any cash.  We thought all was lost, but on an off chance, we walked back to the car and scrounged up the whole $6 that we needed to buy two tickets!  And only half of it was in change - not bad, right?!

Daddy and the little man climbed on board and went soaring around for several minutes of delight.  Lincoln had a somewhat concerned look on his face most of the ride, so I wasn't sure if he was actually enjoying himself - but Daddy said when it was time to get off, he threw a little mini tantrum so obviously it must have been a hit.

Our adventure may not have been the most exciting, but it was just perfect for this pregnant mama - getting to see my boys have fun together was the highlight of my weekend!
