Addie's second birthday in November was a delightful celebration! Since I knew it was likely my last year to pick her party theme, I decided to add a little vintage flair. Because MY second birthday party was Winnie the Pooh themed and Addie has loved Pooh this year, it seemed like a perfect fit. I went with a slightly more unconventional theme, though: Tea for "2" with Winnie the Pooh was my official inspiration for the party. I had no issue with a normal Pooh theme, but I was able to do so many more girly decorations with the modification!
The fireplace decor was not too difficult to set up - I made a banner in the party colors of light pink, hot pink, teal, lavender, and white using my Silhouette Portrait. I made the Tissue Paper Flower Poofs from tissue paper I found at Target. The center ruffle was made from crepe paper, the Pooh was from our toy collection, and the orange teapot is part of my prop collection. The Hunny Pot is a basic terracotta pot that I painted - tutorial for that is coming soon!
I threw in the butterfly accents at the last minute - so sweet for a tea party, don't you think?
Addie liked all of the Pooh characters on her banner!
The Tissue Paper Flower Poofs made a big statement with very little effort. I love them - have been making them since the days when I threw tea parties for little girls at the library where I worked.
I decorated with various Winnie the Pooh characters, more butterflies, and vintage hats from my costume collection.
Ruffled Streamers (made using this tutorial from Dana Made It) are one of my favorite easy decorations, especially for girly parties.
I like to add some decor even to the outside of the house when I'm party planning, as an indication of the fun inside! When I did Lincoln's second birthday, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse signs (free printable here) were a big hit. Andrew took on the task of crafting a 100-Acre Wood sign for Addie's party and I love how it turned out. I hung another hat on the front door.
Our party favor bags included Pooh board books, Pooh stickers, honey sticks, GoGoSqueez applesauce and a few other trinkets for the kids. The bee bags were purchased last year on clearance at Target after Easter.
I continued the flower poof and ruffle streamer decorations throughout the party area.
More vintage hats and our collection of Pooh plush toys completed the look!
We even included the Pooh and Piglet from my childhood - I received this Piglet for my second birthday! Could it be more perfect?
We had a set of Winnie the Pooh bath toys out for the kids to play with, as well.
It's time to move on to the table display!
I used a lacy tablecloth and patterned china to go with the tea party theme.
I didn't have any really fancy food, but no one seemed to mind! I'm more about the decor, anyway!
My Pooh garden marker food signs were probably the cutest part of the table display. Or, maybe the Hunny Pots.
The Honey sticks were such a huge hit! I would never have expected it, but everyone really enjoyed them.
We're in the middle of fighting a battle against tooth decay, but I still couldn't imagine a party with no cake.
We served drinks from teapots and used teacups for everyone - china for grownups, and plastic for the kids.
I actually created almost everything for this party in an 18-hour time period, so I was really happy with how everything turned out.
My little princess had a lovely time sipping tea and munching cupcakes at her party! I know that this post is already photo heavy, but there are a few more pictures of Addie enjoying her party that I just have to share!
