Disney Big Hero 6 Baymax Easy DIY Toddler Craft Paper Bag Puppet Tutorial

I have one preschooler and one toddler, and they both love crafts. I have grand intentions to have a plethora of available craft projects every day, but it doesn't always happen. Our latest project was super easy and a big hit - so of course, I have to share it!

We didn't have a chance to see Big Hero 6 when it was released in theaters last year, but since the film was released on Blu-ray and DVD earlier this week, we finally got to see it. I didn't have really high expectations because I knew almost nothing about it, but I really enjoyed it! And I knew that that kids would get such a big kick out of the movie's lovable health companion robot, Baymax.

We decided to make a paper bag puppet Baymax, since that's the sort of craft a preschooler typically enjoys! A quick trip to Walmart produced all the supplies we needed for this project.

Step 1. Download and print the Baymax Puppet on white cardstock.

Step 2. Cut out the pieces!

3. Use glue stick to attach pieces to the paper bag. Make sure the flap on the bag is facing up so that you can move his head after it is attached! The order we glued the pieces on was legs, arms, tummy, face.

And that's it! Super simple, super cute. Lincoln and Addie were both very into this project and wanted to get the glue in all the right places.

Lincoln is not confident with scissors yet, so I cut the pieces out for him. But, this craft is great for letting young kids practice their cutting skills, as well as their fine motor skills with gluing and placing the pieces on the bag.

After our craft was done, between the two kids, the two puppets, and our friendly Baymax plush (found at Walmart.com), there was a ton of flying superhero action going on in our house!

They were both so excited to show their daddy the craft we made! If we ever have a Big Hero 6 birthday party, this is definitely a craft I will return to and use again. It was super simple!

We had a grand time creating our craft, and the kids recognize Baymax everywhere we go!

We found a Walmart exclusive gift set, which includes a gift with purchase digital copy (while supplies last). Your purchase of the Big Hero 6 Blu-Ray/DVD + Gift With Purchase Set includes a digital movie on Vudu while supplies last! Simply scan your receipt using the Savings Catcher in the Walmart app. Then look for a message on your phone or email. Now you can watch Big Hero 6 on any device! So much fun. I found the scientific concepts in this movie so fascinating - I could totally see Lincoln building awesome stuff in our garage someday, just like Hero!

Lincoln hasn't actually watched the movie yet, but he keeps saying "I like Baymax! He saves the day!" so I think a family movie night may be in order sometime pretty soon.

Addie's second birthday in November was a delightful celebration! Since I knew it was likely my last year to pick her party theme, I decided to add a little vintage flair. Because MY second birthday party was Winnie the Pooh themed and Addie has loved Pooh this year, it seemed like a perfect fit. I went with a slightly more unconventional theme, though: Tea for "2" with Winnie the Pooh was my official inspiration for the party. I had no issue with a normal Pooh theme, but I was able to do so many more girly decorations with the modification!

The fireplace decor was not too difficult to set up - I made a banner in the party colors of light pink, hot pink, teal, lavender, and white using my Silhouette Portrait. I made the Tissue Paper Flower Poofs from tissue paper I found at Target. The center ruffle was made from crepe paper, the Pooh was from our toy collection, and the orange teapot is part of my prop collection. The Hunny Pot is a basic terracotta pot that I painted - tutorial for that is coming soon!

I threw in the butterfly accents at the last minute - so sweet for a tea party, don't you think?

Addie liked all of the Pooh characters on her banner!

The Tissue Paper Flower Poofs made a big statement with very little effort. I love them - have been making them since the days when I threw tea parties for little girls at the library where I worked.

I decorated with various Winnie the Pooh characters, more butterflies, and vintage hats from my costume collection.

Ruffled Streamers (made using this tutorial from Dana Made It) are one of my favorite easy decorations, especially for girly parties.

I like to add some decor even to the outside of the house when I'm party planning, as an indication of the fun inside! When I did Lincoln's second birthday, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse signs (free printable here) were a big hit. Andrew took on the task of crafting a 100-Acre Wood sign for Addie's party and I love how it turned out. I hung another hat on the front door.

Our party favor bags included Pooh board books, Pooh stickers, honey sticks, GoGoSqueez applesauce and a few other trinkets for the kids. The bee bags were purchased last year on clearance at Target after Easter.

I continued the flower poof and ruffle streamer decorations throughout the party area.

More vintage hats and our collection of Pooh plush toys completed the look!

We had a set of Winnie the Pooh bath toys out for the kids to play with, as well.

It's time to move on to the table display!

I used a lacy tablecloth and patterned china to go with the tea party theme.

I didn't have any really fancy food, but no one seemed to mind! I'm more about the decor, anyway!

My Pooh garden marker food signs were probably the cutest part of the table display. Or, maybe the Hunny Pots.

The Honey sticks were such a huge hit! I would never have expected it, but everyone really enjoyed them.

We're in the middle of fighting a battle against tooth decay, but I still couldn't imagine a party with no cake.

We served drinks from teapots and used teacups for everyone - china for grownups, and plastic for the kids.

I actually created almost everything for this party in an 18-hour time period, so I was really happy with how everything turned out.

My little princess had a lovely time sipping tea and munching cupcakes at her party! I know that this post is already photo heavy, but there are a few more pictures of Addie enjoying her party that I just have to share!

Cook Up Some Imagination with The Queen's Treasures {Vintage Stove Review + Giveaway}

Disclosure: I received a sample toy to review. No other compensation was received and all views expressed are my own.

When I was nine years old, I received one of the most treasured gifts of my childhood: a doll named Molly. She was quickly promoted to the highly coveted position of favorite toy and spent the next several years being lovingly dragged with me everywhere. I dressed like her, I pretended my best friends had the same names as her best friends (seriously), and naturally, I poured over the magazines depicting her collection of accessories and outfits and made long wishlists of all of the things I thought she needed to have.

While I did receive a lot of items for my doll collection (maybe even too many - but I honestly did play with them), I never really had any large furniture items to enhance her world. I made up plenty of things for her to play with and all was well - but that doesn't mean I was not excited out of my mind when this particular review item arrived at my door this month!

Yes, even twenty years after my beloved doll entered my world, I can't wait until my daughter is old enough for me to pass down my doll collection to her. And while I don't want her thinking that she needs every accessory on the market, I will definitely be turning to The Queen's Treasures for some beautifully designed, historically accurate outfits and furniture pieces.

Founded by "Queen" Joann Cartiglia, this small business based in historic Stroudsburg, PA has grown quickly with the national demand for 18" doll clothing, accessories, furniture and the "wow" factor. The company's Bake Shoppe won the Top Toy for 2013 for Creative Play from Creative Child Magazine.

I find the selection of historical playthings so refreshing! When I was a kid, I devoured every piece of historical fiction I could find, and loved pretending to be from an earlier, simpler time. There are plenty of 18" dolls that offer modern attire and accessories, but I find the historically accurate collections to be so much more vivid and endearing. I hope that my daughter feels the same way!

We received the Vintage Style Stove for review. It is sized for 18" dolls and features wooden construction that is painted in cream to represent the enameled look of years gone by. There are four stove top "burners" (they don't actually heat - no worries), a main oven with removable baking rack, a broiler, and compartments for utensils and warming. With four compartments altogether, there is a lot of space for pretend baking to take place. The Stove is 9 3/8" tall.

The Stove is part of the 2015 design series, which features life during WWI. Outfits and accessories from the brave Salvation Army Doughnut Girls, vintage stoves and an antique sewing machine are samples of the available designs for this year.

The attention to detail on this piece is excellent. I love that each cabinet opens and closes with just a gentle tug. All but the compartment on the top right are equipped with a magnetic latch to keep the door in place.

The attention to detail is lovely and I can tell that this is a quality piece that should stand up to many hours of little girls playing with it! It is sturdy and heavy enough that it will not fall over with just a bump.

Does your daughter have an 18" doll? Would she love this accessory?
